Set atop a six-hectare hill in the Cevennes mountains, the château de Marseilles overlooks the valley. This elegant 18th-century home, built on the site of an old military redoubt, was lovingly restored at the beginning of the 20th-century in the Tuscan style, which is reflected in the beautiful terraced gardens that surround it for the pleasure of its guests. Long, landscaped paths entice guests to daydreaming while walking among cypress trees and centuries-old rose bushes and enjoying the scents of nature that are part of this Italian art of living. Facing the west side of the château, one can see a beautiful meadow lined with carefully trimmed boxtrees. A few steps away, guests can take a dip in the artfully designed swimming pool or just relax and sunbathe around the charming 18th-century lodge.
A large stone-slab patio lies alongside the meadow, in front of the summer dining room. Guests can take in the early-morning sun and have breakfast under a large unbleached linen parasol. Inside this large, comfortable home, the furniture is Louis XV and Louis XVI. The interior design is highly refined, with wood trims and marble fireplaces that contribute to the overall harmony of this luxury château.
